THE FOUNDER & WHY WE EXIST

Retire with a Legacy Built on Inner Strength

At EMP, our why is simple: to help athletes retire with a legacy built on inner strength. Competitive athletics is short but highly charged, and the mental programming developed during this time either leaves fulfilling memories and powerful skills—or regret and disappointment.

We emphasize:

  • Courage over confidence – growth comes from pushing through discomfort

  • Discipline over motivation – small, consistent actions build lasting mental skills

  • Accountability with humility – you don’t do it alone, but no one does it for you

We work with athletes who aren’t “interested” in mental performance—they are ready to commit. It requires invisible, consistent work and trust.

MY STORY

From fear, anger, and resentment to mental performance coaching.

When I was 26, five years after retiring as a college goalkeeper, someone asked me to sum up my student-athlete experience in three words. I said: “Fear, anger, and resentment.”

I was undersized, suffered multiple injuries, and faced harassment online. Sport psychology felt like something “weak” athletes did—I didn’t know any better.

As a coach, I watched talented athletes fall short because they couldn’t perform under pressure, navigate intense environments, or recover from injuries. These experiences drove me to explore sports psychology.

Discovering the Association for Applied Sports Psychology was my “aha” moment. I realized there were tools that could have dramatically changed my career—and that could help the athletes I coached. I pursued a Master of Science in Sport and Performance Psychology, became a Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC), and created EMP.

What athletes are saying..

"100% recommend!"

Alex has helped me with not only my mental performance in volleyball, but in all aspects of my life. He is constantly helping me and even sends me outside sources/videos that he finds. My play on the court and my mental toughness has increased. 100 percent recommend!

"That fun and enjoyment attitude!"

Alex has helped me in so many ways specifically on how I mentally approach competitions. I've been able to find a true purpose and meaning in my sport again learning to stay calm and have that fun and enjoyment attitude. Alex has helped me develop multiple mental strategies before, during, and after competition that are very useful and helpful.

- Alec, 24 | Distance Runner

"My confidence was below zero!"

I truly cannot say enough great things about Alex and EMP! Alex worked with me through the Spring season and also helped me work through a challenging coach situation. My confidence was below zero and I couldn't find the fun in [lacrosse]. What a change I saw in me this year. EMP armed me with a toolkit of tactics that I can use in many situations not just in sports but in life. If you are thinking of EMP for you, don't hesitate!!!

OUR VISION

Changing the way athletes approach the mental game.

Mental performance isn’t “physical therapy”—it’s strength and conditioning for the mind. We proactively build mental mastery across four pillars:

We don’t believe just 1-1 work or just online apps and courses will do the trick. We want to factor in everything to get the personalized touch, but with the convenience and ease of accessing the mental performance material, making sure we leave no stone unturned when it comes down to athlete’s mental game.

If you’re ready to train your mind like you train your body, explore our athlete programs:
